In another big boost to road infrastructure in Assam, the Union government on Thursday sanctioned Rs 421.15 crore for the construction of a 4-lane Gauripur Bypass along National Highway-17 (New)/NH-31(Old) in Dhubri district, said Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “The implementation of this bypass, equipped with comprehensive road safety measures, is anticipated to contribute significantly to the reduction of accidents in the region.”

Taking to X Chief Minister Himanta Biswa expressed his gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for allocating the fund and wrote, ” We are extremely grateful Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @nitin_gadkari Ji for this generous allocation. The proposed four lane Gauripur Bypass will enhance the Ease of Living of the people of Dhubri district by reducing congestion and enhancing safety.”

Yesterday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated the newly expanded six-lane Basistha-Jalukbari stretch of the Guwahati Bypass to the people, which is expected to decongest Guwahati city further for almost another decade.

The six-lane Khanapara-Jalukbari stretch of Guwahati Bypass has been built at a cost of Rs 300 crore and launched almost 5-months ahead of the stipulated time of completion.
