The West Garo Hills DC has informed that elaborate steps are being taken up to ensure that there is no man-animal conflict.
Owing to herd of elephants roaming around in Tura, the West Garo Hills District Administration has cautioned the public and said they should avoid getting into conflict with the pachyderms.
In it’s appeal, the West Garo Hills DC has informed that elaborate steps are being taken to ensure that there is no man-animal conflict.
The DC in a post on social media alerted the people and wrote, “We urge everyone to exercise extreme caution and refrain from any direct interaction with the elephants. Your security is paramount. The wildlife team is already on the ground to take due action.”
Besides, it has also been urged that people do not take things into their own hands and instead report about the movement of elephants immediately to the forest department.
The post further read, “If you come across elephants, maintain a safe distance. Do not attempt to approach them or interfere with their movement. Please promptly report any sightings or encounters with elephants to the DFO (Wildlife) or through social media platforms.
Your timely information can help prevent potential incidents.”
Worth mentioning, on March 4 a biker riding through Selsella road in West Garo Hills was attacked by wild elephants and trampled to death.
Reports claim that in recent days, elephant herds were spotted in Tura’s Wadanang area (near ABC guest house) and even Abri Nido resort, Rongkhon Songgital area.
