Won’t allow uranium mining without examining scientific aspects and others: M’laya CM

CM Sangma said that unless government studies the aspects carefully, no step should be taken in that direction in any way

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that the state government will not allow uranium mining in the state unless all scientific aspects are thoroughly examined and people are given confidence, as it concerns the well-being of the people and the future of the state.

Speaking to Northeast Live, CM Sangma said, “Without taking people into confidence and looking at all the scientific aspects of thing, we are not going to allow the uranium mining to take place in the state, because it is regarding people’s life, health and the future of the state.

As far as the people’s welfare is concerned, CM Sangma said, “We will have to take people on board and have to study the aspects carefully until then we have to ensure that no step is taken in that direction in any way.”
