Meghalaya: 2 arrested in connection with IED blast at Shillong

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the IED blast at Syndicate bus stand, Punjabi Lane in Shillong, Meghalaya on March 9 which resulted in one person being injured.

The arrested person have been identified as–Ebakordor Nongpluh (26) and Tarson Lymba (58), both residents of West Jaintia Hills district.

The duo was arrested from Shillong and Dawki yesterday night.

Further investigation in the matter is underway.

Meghalaya Police yesterday announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for credible information leading to the arrest of people involved in the blast.

One person sustained injuries when a suspected IED blast took place at City Bus syndicate next to Punjabi Lane at Mawlonghat around 10.30 pm Saturday.

The SP East Khasi Hills had yesterday confirmed that a crude IED detonated in an abandoned structure at Punjabi Lane, in Mawlonghat area caused the blast on Saturday night.

The IED was placed inside a metal container and the blast, suspected to have been caused gelatin sticks, was confined to the CGI sheet structure while causing damages to the glass windows of the adjacent buildings, the East Khasi Hills SP informed.
