Manipur CM attends launch of construction work for football ground with natural grass at Lamlai

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday attended the launch of construction work for a football ground to be built with natural grass at Lamlai in Imphal East. The football ground would be built at an estimated cost of around Rs 8 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Singh stated that development work has to continue despite the State going through a rough phase.
The Chief Minister said that the football ground with natural grass was among the number of projects (amounting to Rs 3500 crore) that the PM had either inaugurated or laid the foundation stone for.
The CM said that the Government had also sent a proposal to construct a sports complex covering different disciplines for Imphal East at Lamlai.
Referring to the difficult times that the state has been going through, the CM appreciated the women and the youth of the state for bravely facing the hardship. He also stressed the importance of hard work and dedication in every field for development.
“Indigenous people of Manipur have been standing together against those forces trying to disintegrate the bonding among different communities of the State”, said a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office quoting the CM.
The CM further said that his Government, since its formation in 2017, had been trying to preserve the historical and sacred places of the State and added that security forces had been deployed at foothill areas to prevent tension.
The Chief Minister appreciated Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his concern about the unprecedented crisis in the State and his address in the Parliament regarding the causes of the same. He also stated that the State Government had been working tirelessly for ensuring security and safety of the State and its people.
Referring to a memorandum submitted by the locals of Lamlai AC, he assured them that security forces would be deployed at Thamnapokpi, Gwaltabi and other areas.
The CM appreciated the central leaders for their support and guidance and mentioned the implementation of Inner Line Permit System, border fencing, suspension of Free Movement Regime and others, the CMO statement said.
CM Singh attended the programme organized by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports as the Chief Guest and Power Minister Thongam Biswajit was present as President.
Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai, Transport Minister Khashim Vashum, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Lamlai MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Patsoi MLA Sapam Kujakeswor, Wangkhei MLA Th. Arunkumar and Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan were also present at the event.
