PM Modi on 2-day Assam visit from Friday, maiden visit to Kaziranga National Park on Mar 9

PM Modi will also address a rally at Meleng Meteli in Jorhat and inaugurate several projects of both centre and state government

Narendra Modi is all set to become the first Prime Minister of India to visit the renowned Kaziranga National Park. He will reach at 4 PM tomorrow and will be halting the night in Kaziranga.

While addressing the conference on Thursday, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the PM will arrive in the state on Friday evening and is scheduled to spend at least two hours in the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.

“Tomorrow, at 4 pm PM Modi will arrive at Tezpur airport and will directly go to Kaziranga. On March 9, at around 5:30 am, he will visit Kaziranga National Park and will spend 2 hours. He will go to Arunachal Pradesh from Kaziranga. After attending two programs in Arunachal Pradesh he will again visit Jorhat at around 1:30 pm” the Assam CM said.

Sarma said, “PM Modi has come to Guwahati. He laid the foundation stone and inaugurated almost projects worth Rs 20,000 crores. After 20-30 days, he is again coming to Assam and giving us another Rs 20,000 crores.“

“Without creating any investment summit, we are having an investment of almost Rs 70,000-80,000 crores. This is the best time for the people of Assam. I have not checked it officially but as far as the knowledge I have, PM Modi will be the first prime minister to stay overnight in Kaziranga”, Sarma added.

PM Modi will also address a rally at Meleng Meteli in Jorhat and inaugurate several projects of both centre and state government, he said.

From the venue of the public meeting, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation of various infrastructure development projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore, he added.

“PM Modi will inaugurate the Great Ahom General Lachit Borphukan and address a public rally at Meleng Meteli and inaugurate several projects of both centre and state government. PM Modi will give 5,55,550 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) houses to the beneficiaries from the Meleng Meteli meeting”, Sarma added.

He said, “One gallery of Ahom Kingdom will be constructed in the project of Lachit Barphukan and another gallery of Assamese society will also be constructed. The total cost of the project is Rs 214 crores.”

“PM Modi will inaugurate the Tinsukia Medical College and lay the foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College under the PM-DIVINE scheme on Saturday. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Digboi Refinery from 0.65 Million MT to 1 Million MT with a cost of Rs 768 crores.”

“ PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the expansion of Guwahati Refinery from 1 million MT to 1.2 million MT with a cost of Rs 510 crore. PM Modi will inaugurate the project with a cost of Rs 3,992 crores project of pipeline from Barauni to Guwahati” he added.

In view of PM Modi’s visit to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam, the jeep safari and elephant ride will remain closed in the Kaziranga range of Kohora from March 7 to 9.
