Sikkim CM launches Mi 172 helicopter for commercial services

A Puja was organised to mark the first landing and start of commercial operations from Brutuk Helipad.
In a bid to give a boost to tourism in Sikkim, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday launched the Twin Engine Mi172 helicopter service.
A Puja was held to mark the first landing and the start of commercial operation from Brutuk Helipad.
The 26-seater twin engine Mi-172 helicopter, a highly adaptable medium-lift twin-engine aircraft built in Russia, is capable of performing various tasks. The helicopter is designed explicitly for the high-altitude terrain, capable of transporting a significant number of passengers to elevations unreachable by any other helicopter in the world.
The puja and the inaugural event was attended by BS Panth, Minister, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, GT Dhungel, MLA, Tadong, YT Lepcha, MLA, Gangtok, Nell Bahadur Chettri, Mayor, GMC, VB Pathak, Chief Secretary, Lukendra Rasaily, Chairman, STDC, AK Singh, DGP, and other senior state government officials.
