WPL 2024: Assam girl Uma Chetry selected to replace injured Vrinda Dinesh

The UP Warrior'z have signed Uma Chetry as a replacement at her reserve price of INR 10 lakh
The UP Warriorz’s has named wicket-keeper batter Uma Chetry of Assam as the replacement for Karnataka batter Vrinda Dinesh in the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), after Dinesh suffered a shoulder injury during the match against the Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 28.
The UP Warrior’z have signed Uma Chetry as a replacement at her reserve price of INR 10 lakh.
Dinesh was bought by Warriorz’s for Rs 1.3 crore at the auction.
“The UP Warriorz’s prioritises all our players’ health and would like to wish her a very speedy recovery. We hope to see her back in action soon. In the interim, Uma Chetry will replace her in the squad,” said UP Warriorz.
Assam Cricket Association (ACS) took to Facebook to congratulate Uma Chetry and wrote, “Assam girl Uma Chetry has been appointed as the replacement for the injured Vrinda Dinesh in the ongoing #TATAWPL2024 by UP Warriorz. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Uma Chetry on her selection and wish her the best as she joins the team.”
Uma has recently played for India A against England A which won the ACC Emerging Women’s Asia Cup 2023.
Before suffering an injury, Vrinda played for the UP Warriorz’s in two games where she scored 0 and 18 runs. In the game against the Mumbai Indians, she did not bat.
