Putting all speculations to rest, the much anticipated Tiprasa Accord to pave way for the development of indigenous people in Tripura was signed today.

The Agreement gives special focus on resolving issues pertaining to history, land rights, political rights, economic development, identity, culture and language of the indigenous people of Tripura.

But what does the tripartite agreement signed between the Government of India, Government of Tripura and the Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance has in it?

As per the notification issued by the Centre after the signing of the Accord stated a series of meetings were recently held with The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance or TIPRA Motha and other stakeholders, based on which, the Government of India, Government of Tripura and TIPRA today agreed to amicably resolve all issues of the indigenous people of Tripura relating to history, land rights, political rights, economic development, identity, culture and language among others.

It was agreed to constitute a Joint Working Committee to work out and implement the mutually agreed points on all the above mentioned issues in a time-bound manner to ensure an honourable solution.
The accord says that in order to maintain a conducive atmosphere for implementation of this Agreement, all stakeholders should refrain from resorting to any form of agitation during this period, starting from the day of signing which is today.

The signatories of the Accord include Pradyot Debbarma, Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl and Animesh Debbarma representing the TIPRA Motha, Chief Secretary JK Sinha representing the Tripura Government and Piyush Goyal who is the Additional Secretary (NE), Ministry of Home Affairs, representing the Centre.
