Manipur: Suspense continues over renewal of SoO with Kuki-Zo militant groups

The Manipur assembly yesterday passed a uninimous resolution to urge the Centre to abrogate the Suspension of Operations (SoO) with Kuki-Zo Armed Groups.

Suspense continues over the renewal of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with the Kuki-Zo militant groups in Manipur.

As per sources, while a meeting took place in New Delhi yesterday on the issue there was no signing of the extension agreement as the representative from Manipur government side failed to attend the meet.
So, the there has been no extension of the SOO yet.

It may be mentioend that the Manipur assembly yesterday passed a uninimous resolution to urge the Centre to abrogate the Suspension of Operations (SoO) with Kuki-Zo Armed Groups.

The resolution came in the wake of widespread protests in the Imphal valley demanding the abrogatin of SOO with Kuki militant groups.

Earlier on Wednesday, thousands of women demonstrated in different parts of Imphal valley demanding scrapping of SOO agreemnet between the Cente and Kuki militant groups. Meira Paibis held a torch rally acros on Wednesday night opposing extension of SoO.
