Manipur CM announces Govt jobs for gold medallists of 36th and the 37th National Games

CM N Biren Singh made the announcement at the Sanaroishingee Numit or Players' Day event in Imphal.
Known to be the Sports Powehouse of the nation, Manipur has produced some of the best ever athletes who have earned accolades in the sports arena, be it at the national level or at the international stage.
To honour these sporting talents the Manipur Government has decided to provide government jobs to at least 132 sportspersons-the Gold Medallists in the 36th and the 37th National Games held in Gujarat and Goa respectively.
CM N Biren made the announcement at the Sanaroishingee Numit or Players’ Day event in Imphal. He further announced that Naorem Roshibina Devi, the Wushu player who won silver medal in the 19th Asian Games in China, will be appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The CM said, “We also today announced that all those who participated and won the National Games in Gujarat and Goa, altogether around 132 sportspersons will be given government service as per their qualification. On this very auspicious day I want to convey my happiness to all the sportspersons and the coaches, managers and all the clubs who are producing sportspersons for the state.”
During the programme, the Chief Minister handed over cash incentives to players who had won medals in various national and international sporting events in their respective disciplines. He also felicitated veteran players of the State.
“Manipur state is the land of sports, I should say. And the then Honble President Kovind Ji termed it as capital city of Indian sports. Today is a proud moment and we are celebrating Sanaroishingee Numit, the day of the sportspersons. Today we inaugurated on Excellence Training Centre. It will uplift the quality of training to the sportspersons and it will also facilitate the history and background of the ancient sports of the state and we can add also more,” CM N Biren added.
