Manipur: Two arrested with contraband substances worth over Rs 10 cr

The arrested persons have been identified as--Rafique Kutti and Zeenat.

Contraband substances worth over Rs 10 crore was seized in the border town of Moreh in Manipur, and arrested two persons in connection with the case.

Based on inputs, a team of 5th Assam Rifles deployed at Moreh and Manipur Police have conducted a search operation at Home Guard Veng of Moreh Ward Number 1 along the Indo-Myanmar Border Town yesterday.

During the search operation, the combined team apprehended two persons and recovered 29.799 kgs of WY tablets, 0.386 kgs of heroine, 2.471 kgs of metham-phetamine, 8.299 kgs of gold dust and 7,970 alpra-zolam tablets from their possession.

The arrested persons have been identified as–Rafique Kutti and Zeenat.

A case has been registered at the Moreh Police Station in this regard. Further investigation is underway.

It was indeed a daring operation by the security forces as locals of Homeguard Veng where the operation was carried out demanded the release of the arrested persons. They confronted the security personnel forcing RAF to fire tear gas shells for dispersing the irate mob.

Security forces have inflicted a massive blow to drug cartels operating in Manipur, Mizoram and Assam in the last 3 days.

During intensive operations narcotics worth a whopping Rs 65 crore in just 3 days.

On Thursday, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police, in a joint operation, seized 11.397 kg of methamphetamine tablets and 218 grams of heroin worth more than Rs 35 crore. 3 persons were arrested in connection with the case.

On Friday, the Assam Police recovered drugs worth Rs 24 crore from Dholai in Cachar district. One person was arrested in connection with the case.
