Three NE states get new governors

Three states of the Northeast have new Governors now. The states of Meghalaya, Tripura and Sikkim have got a change of Governors as per the order given out by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Tathagata Roy, who had been the Governor of Tripura, has now been appointed as the new Governor of the state of Meghalaya.

He replaces Ganga Prasad as the Governor of the state. His appointment comes at a crucial stage when the state is set to see by-polls in the two constituencies of Ranikor and South Tura tomorrow.

On the other hand, Ganga Prasad has been transferred to Sikkim and has been made the new Governor of the state. He replaces Srinivas Patil as the Governor of Sikkim.

Tripura has also got a new Governor in the form of Kaptan Singh Solanki. Solanki who has been the Governor of Haryana and has been transferred to Sikkim as per the new order by the President.
