Sources said that Assam government has sought a report on the prison security lapse case
One prison official has been transferred, while few more official are likely to be suspended in connection with the major security breach that occurred in the National Security Act (NSA) cell of the Dibrugarh jail on February 17 where separatist Amritpal Singh and his accomplices are being held, said sources.
Sources also said that Assam government has sought a report on the prison security lapse case.
The development has come after Assam DGP GP Singh visited the Dibrugarh jail for an inspection.
It may be mentioned here that a spy camera pen, a smartphone, a keypad phone, pen drives, Bluetooth headphones and speakers, a smartwatch, and several other incriminating items were found in the NSA cell of the Dibrugarh central jail on Februay 17 sending law-enforcing agencies into a tizzy.
These items were recovered during a search operation conducted by the jail staff based on a tip-off that unauthorised activities were noticed inside the NSA cell.
Meanwhile, additional CCTV cameras have been installed in the public area of the NSA block.
