Manipur filmmaker Sonia Nepram makes a splash at 47th Berlin International Film Festival

Nepram was invited to the event by the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Proud moment for Manipur. Filmmaker from the state, Sonia Nepram, who is also an executive board member of the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), is earning recognition at the 47th Berlin International Film Festival also known as Berlinale.

Nepram was invited to the event by the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Film Festival started on February 15 and will continue until February 22.

Besides having the opportunity to interact with international renowned figures of global cinema, such as Martin Scorsese, who will receive an Honorary Golden Bear for his career achievement at the event, Nepram will experience the rich and dynamic culture of Germany.

Nepram is likely to visit well-known institutions such as the Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen German Film Archive and the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf and discuss on film financing and location promotion.

Nepram’s participation at the Berlin International Film Festival is seen as a big positive for MSFDS which prepares for the second edition of Manipur’s International Film Festival, the ‘Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival’ (EIIFF), scheduled for this year.

The Berlin International Film Festival, which was established in 1951, is considered as one of the top film festivals in the world and offers an array of both international and national films.
