Manipur Govt issues ‘No work, No pay’ order to employees skipping work following ITLF diktat

The government of Manipur has taken strong exception to the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) diktat to government employees in Churachandpur to abstain from attending office today and issued a no work no pay notice to government employees skipping work without authorized leave.
The State government ordered that no one shall attempt or make an effort to follow or enforce the ITLF notice at any cost and has warned that defaulters will be booked and prosecuted under relevant laws.
An order issued by the state government said that the ITLF notice is issued without any authority.
The order added that there are many important projects ongoing in the state. Works are ongoing at relief camps where old people, children and pregnant women reside, preparations are also ongoing for CBSE and state board examinations across the state. In view of the above and also to protect the integrity of government offices the notice urged people to not follow the ITLF instructions to not attend office.
District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police were asked to enforce the order.
It may be mentioned that the ITLF on Sunday asked government employees to skip work on Monday. The group took the step after a 24-hour deadline to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had passed asking for reinstatement of head constable Siamlalpaul, who was suspended over allegations that he had been training an armed group.
