In a rather big breakthrough, the Assam Police has busted a plot wherein unauthorized activities inside the Dibrugarh Central Jail were going on for quite some time. Recovery of electronic gadgets which otherwise are prohibited for the inmates and that too in the high security National Security Act (NSA) Cell clearly says that it is one of the high profile security breach in the highly guarded jail.

Accordingly, necessary steps were taken up including installation of CCTV cameras in the public area of the NSA Block. Keeping in mind about the gravity of the situation, the police is trying to ascertain as to how such articles reached inside the high security zone and their source.
DGP GP Singh informed about the recovery in a post on X and said, “Reference NSA detenues at Dibrugarh Jail, Assam – On receipt of Information about unauthorised activities taking place in NSA cell, additional CCTV cameras were installed in public area of NSA Block. Inputs received confirmed unauthorised activities, based on which Jail staff searched the premise of NSA Cell early this morning, leading to recovery of smartphone with SIM, keypad phone, TV remote with keyboard, spy-cam pen, pen drives, Bluetooth headphone & speakers and smart watch which were lawfully seized by Jail staff.
