Today marks the 5th year of the deadly terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama which killed as many as 40 Central Reserve Police Force soldiers.

Paying his heartfelt tribute to the valorous martyrs of Pulwama, BJP National president JP Nadda said that their bravery and dedication will never be forgotten. ‘The nation will always remain indebted to our bravehearts’.
Looking back on the fateful day, on February 14, 2019, 40 CRPF personnel were killed after terrorists attacked a convoy of 78 vehicles, transporting more than 2,500 CRPF personnel from Jammu to Srinagar. Besides the soldiers, a perpetrator, Adil Ahmad Dar, who was also a local Kashmiri youth from Pulwama, was killed.
The attack was carried out at Lethapora in Pulwama district. India blamed Pakistan for the attack, but the latter denied having any connection to it.
The Pulwama attack remains a somber reminder of the challenges faced in the fight against terrorism.
The incident sparked widespread demonstrations across the country and significant diplomatic efforts to label JeM leader Masood Azhar a global terrorist.
The efforts bore fruit when, on May 1, 2019, China lifted a technical hold on a UN Security Council proposal, which resulted in Azhar’s designation.
The National Investigation Agency(NIA) played a crucial role in unravelling the plot behind the Pulwama attack.
In August 2020, it filed a comprehensive chargesheet against 19 individuals, including Azhar, based on electronic evidence and testimonies of terrorists and their associates.
