Karimganj Police seize heroin, yaba tablets; 3 held

A total of three persons were arrested by the police in connection with the drug seizure.
In a bid to make Assam a drugs-free state, Karimganj Police on Saturday arrested at least 3 drug peddlers from Ratabari area and seized 150 grams of heroin and nearly 20,000 Yaba Tablets.
Based on specific information, an anti-narcotics operation was launched by Karimganj Police in the Ratabari area.
During search operation, around 12 soap boxes containing heroin and 19,800 yaba tablets worth over 3 crores were recovered from a secret chamber of a vehicle.
A total of three persons were arrested by the police in connection with the drug seizure.
The successful operation earned applause from the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Praising the police officials in his X post, the Assam CM wrote, “Based on secret inputs, an anti-narcotics operation was launched by @karimganjpolice in the Ratabari area. 12 soap boxes of Heroin & 19,800 YABA Tablets have been recovered from the secret chambers of a vehicle and three people have been arrested in this connection.”
On January 9, in a joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police and Karimganj district police seized contraband drugs worth Rs 100 crores in Karimganj district.
The security personnel also arrested four people. 5.1 kg of heroin and 64,000 Yaba tablets were recovered in total. Four packets of foreign-brand cigarettes were also found and seized.
