Agitating students and teachers of Manipur University have virtually rejected the fresh order issued by the Union HRD Ministry on Friday constituting a 2 member enquiry committee to probe the charges against VC AK Pandey.
After a marathon meeting held today, the agitating teachers and students have said that the august 17 order of the HRD Ministry does not clarify that VC Pandey would be on leave during the period of enquiry for the sake of a fair probe.
The HRD Ministry had set up the committee with T Nandakumar Singh, former acting Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court and Professor MK Choudhury, former VC Tezpur University.
Following a series of meetings held between the leaders of the Manipur University teachers Association, MUSU, MUSA in the presence of CM NB Singh it was decided that the VC would be on leave during the period of investigation.
However, the agitators have expressed shock that the fact of the VC being on leave has not been reflected on the HRD Ministry order.
The agitation seeking the VC’s ouster that has already entered 80 days is now likely to continue.
