Delivering his speech, PM Modi said that the new projects will go the extra mile to boost infrastructure development and connectivity. He said, “”The inauguration of projects worth Rs 11,000 crore, will strengthen the connectivity of Assam, northeast with other countries of South Asia. These projects will increase employment opportunities in the tourism sector.”
PM Modi said that he was blessed to be at the doors of Maa Kamakhya after the historic Pran Pratistha of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He also took a dig at the previous government for ignoring the sentiments and history.
Laying the base for the Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana, PM Modi stated, “Today, I got the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana. When this Pariyojana is completed, more devotees will be able to come for darshan. This will become the entry gate of tourism in the Northeast.”
The Prime Minister said, “After independence those who were in power for years, even they could not understand the importance of the sacred places of worship. For political benefits, they started a trend of being ashamed of their own culture and history. No country can progress by neglecting its history. But, in the last ten years the situation in the country has changed.”
Besides the Prime Minister also touched upon regional issues like border issue and efforts taken to ensure that peace prevails.
PM Modi informed that his government is committed to resolve the boundary issues and is working closely to make this happen. Besides, the Prime Minister also higlighted about the peace push which according to him has helped in inking a number of key peace pacts and bringing misguided youths to the mainstream.
Regarding the government’s peace push in Northeast, PM Modi said, “More than 7000 youth of Assam have left their weapons & have taken a Sankalp to work for the progress of the country. In a lot of regions, AFSPA has been removed. A country cannot progress with a small target.”
“Now, several areas that were troubled for years are experiencing the establishment of permanent peace. Border disputes between states are being resolved. After the formation of the BJP govt, more than 10 big peace accords have been signed here. In the last few years, thousands of youths in the northeast have given up violence,” PM Modi added.
Speaking about the funds allocated for Northeast, PM Modi said, “In the last 10 years, our government has increased the expenditure on development in this region by 4 times.
After 2014, the length of railway tracks was increased by more than 1900 km. The railway budget has been increased by almost 400% compared to the time before 2014.”
