Meghalaya Govt directs 3 district councils to submit utilization certificates by next week

He added that the government is waiting for the second installment from the 15th Finance Commission

The Government of Meghalaya has directed the three autonomous district councils (ADC) in the state to submit utilization certificates under the 15th Finance Commission by next week.

Speaking to Media persons, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed that a review meeting was held with the three ADCs relating to the late submission of utilization certificates under the 15th Finance Commission grants extended to them.

“We had a meeting with the three autonomous district councils regarding the late submission of utilization certificates under the 15th Finance Commission grant. I have asked the district councils to submit the certificates by next week and then we will ultimately send it to the Government of India,” Tynsong said.
He added that the government is waiting for the second installment from the 15th Finance Commission. Tynsong said that the cause for the delay was that the centre had introduced new initiatives like creation of portals and it takes time.

There are currently three autonomous district councils in the state of Meghalaya. They are the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council. They are autonomous bodies under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
