2 arrested over senior Manipur police officer’s killing in Moreh confess to crime

The court allowed the formal arrest of the two, they were remanded to judicial custody till February 12.

The Manipur police has revealed that the 2 arrested in connection with the killing of SDPO, Moreh, Chingtham Anand Kumar have confessed to the crime.

In a statement on social media platform X, the Manipur police revealed that the duo Philips Khaikholal Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate admitted to their involvement in the crime during interrogation in custody.

Following this, the court allowed the formal arrest of the two, however, they were remanded to judicial custody till February 12.

It may be mentioned that Kuki bodies in Moreh and even in the districts of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi have termed the arrest of the two as a conspiracy.

The Manipur police also dismissed allegations that security forces were involved in the setting ablaze of houses of civilians.

It added that the police and other security forces are working round the clock to maintain law and order and bring peace in Moreh.

Sub-divisional Police Officer Chingtham Anand was on duty overseeing the cleaning of Eastern Shine School Ground for construction of Helipad for deployment of Security Forces at Moreh, when he was shot dead.
