Republic Day celebrated across Northeastern states

States from across the Northeast along with the rest of the nation celebrated the country’s Republic day today with much pomp and grandeur.

In Manipur, celebrations were held at the historic Kangla Fort in Imphal, where Governor Anusuiya Uikey unfurled the national flag. The event was attended by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, Cabinet Ministers and other top ranking officials. Before the event the Governor of Manipur distributed various medals including President Police Medals to various police and civil officers.

Tripura also celebrated Republic Day with patriotic fervor as the state witnessed a massive turnout to commemorate the momentous day. Celebrations were held at Assam Rifles parade ground in Agartala where Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu presided over the ceremony. Chief Minister Manik Saha, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, and other dignitaries were present at the event. A cultural programme was also held which showcased the state’s rich diversity and talent.

In Meghalaya, Governor Phagu Chauhan unfurled the national flag at Polo Ground in Shillong. Addressing the gathering the Governor stated that the state government is committed to bring lasting peace to the state and is open to holding talks with the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) within Indian’s constitutional framework and as per the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. The Governor further stated that significant progress has been made in resolving the Assam-Meghalaya border dispute.

Celebrations were also held in Assam’s Silchar at the Police Parade Ground. Several cultural cultural and social activities, including tableau displays and yoga demonstrations added colour to the event. Dignitaries including Deputy Commissioner of  Cachar district Rohan Kumar Jha, Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, and MLA Silchar Dipayan Chakraborty, along with other government officials were present at the event.

In Sikkim, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang unfurled the tricolor at the Mintokgang premises in Gangtok. This was followed by a rendition of the national anthem, echoing the pride and unity of the nation. A guard of honour was also held to honour the dedication and valour of armed forces.
