125-foot Lachit Barphukan statue in Assam nears completion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the statue in February
The massive statue of Assam’s braveheart Lachit Barphukan is close to completion. Relentless work has been going on to complete the project in Assam’s Holongpar town in Jorhat district.
The cost of the project is estimated to reach up to Rs 150 crore.
People, involved in the construction work said, “The work has been going on at a very rapid rate. Although it has not been confirmed yet, there is a hope that it will be inaugurated in the third week of February by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. We hope that this endeavour will spread the influence of Lachit Barphukan throughout India.”
Former President of India Ramnath Kovind laid the foundation stone of the statue in 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the project in February this year.
