The Ad hoc teacher’s hunger strike that started on Friday has entered its fourth day today.
Teachers from Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Majuli, Nalbari and other districts of the state joined the strike demanding regularization of their jobs and release of pay at the earliest.
The health condition of at least 10 teachers have deteriorated during the strike who have been hospitalised.
The agitating teachers alleged that the authorities are yet to pay heed to their demands.
One of the teachers informed that there are approximately 12 thousand teachers in the state whose jobs have still not been regularised and at least 3 thousand of them have already retired without getting their salaries.
