In a shocking incident, a person was beaten to death on Friday night outside the compound of the Tribal Research Institute, which is just opposite to the State Assembly Secretariat at Chingmeirong in Manipur’s Imphal west district.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the surrounding areas of Nagaram.
The deceased person has been identified as 38-year-old Keishing Y Shimrey, an employee of the Tribal Research Institute, who had severe injury marks on his head, succumbed to his injuries early this morning.
Following the incident, Shimrey was shifted to RIMS Hospital by a passerby, who later informed his family members about the incident.
Meanwhile, locals of Nagaram demonstrated a protest at the Chingmeirong Junction demanding the culprits to be booked at the earliest.
