Swachh Surekshan 2023: NE capital cities rank poor in terms of cleanliness

Swachh Survekshan, is the world’s largest urban sanitation and cleanliness survey
Known for its pristine natural beauty and often a hotspot for tourists, the Northeast certainly should have certainly fared well than other states in the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023, but it is a sort of big disappointment as far as maintaining cleanliness parameters is concerned.
Not a single capital city of the 8 Northeast states could even make it to the top 100.
Assam capital city Guwahati with a national ranking of 402 scored too low in different aspects as door to door collection of waste could not even cross the 50% mark. The figures for Guwahati are-

Arunachal Pradesh capital city Itanagar was ranked 431. The door to door collection of waste was recorded at 68%, whereas the source segregation was 1%.
There was 79% cleanliness of residential areas, 79% cleanliness of market areas and 25 % cleanliness of public toilets
Manipur capital Imphal stood at 355 in the national ranking where door to door collection of waste was 0%. But the source segregation was 46%. There was 4% cleanliness of residential areas, 1% cleanliness of market areas and 33% cleanliness of public toilets
Meghalaya capital Shillong ranked at 436. The door to door collection of waste was 26%, whereas the source segregation was 2%. The other figures are-

53% cleanliness of market areas
33% cleanliness of public toilets
Mizoram capital Aizawl was ranked 387.

44% cleanliness of market areas

Nagaland capital Kohima stood at 387 in the national ranking. The door to door collection of waste was 6% and source segregation-17%. There was 88% cleanliness of residential areas, 86% cleanliness of market areas and 25% cleanliness of public toilets.
The capital city of Sikkim, Gangtok was ranked 386.

Tripura capital Agartala was ranked 400. The door to door collection of waste was 31% whereas the source segregation was recorded to be 0%. There was 51% cleanliness of residential areas, 51% cleanliness of market areas and 40% cleanliness of public toilets.
