Assam Director General of Police, GP Singh has once made a clarion call to all the youths of the state not to fall prey to recruitment campaign of militant outfits.
He also advised those who are in militant camps to return home rather than staying in unknown unsafe places.
Citing media reports, GP Singh stated that there is reportedly a lot of conflict taking on in the areas where the camps of Assam’s only banned rebel group are located.
The conflict is reported to be between local army, people’s defence forces and alliance of insurgent groups. However, it is difficult to determine who is targeting whom, said that state DGP.
Taking to X, GP Singh wrote, “As reported in print and electronic media , it is reported that there’s a lot of conflict going on in those areas where camps of the only remaining banned insurgent group of Assam are located. The conflict is reported to be between local army, people’s defence forces and Alliance of Insurgent groups. Difficult to say who’s targeting whom. It’s an advice and a request to youngsters from Assam not to fall prey to recruitment campaign of such militant groups. Moreover, those in camps there are also advised to come back to homeland instead of staying in unknown unsafe places. Stay safe, stay away from unsafe conflict zones. @assampolice is committed to safety of residents of Assam, anywhere.”
DGP GP Singh had earlier, in October 2023, urged to the state’s youths not to ruin their lives by joining militant outfits.
DGP Singh said that it was rather unfortunate that youths who are being lured to join outfits, ultimately meet with a tragic fate.
