A team of environmentalists were greeted with a pleasant surprise when they spotted a near-extinct Red Panda near their campsite on the outskirts of the Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary in Sikkim today.
The elusive animal is classified as ‘Endangered’ and receives the highest legal protection under the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List and the Indian Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
