Passengers to pay RS 2000 for Indigo airlines’ front row seats

First Published: 9th January, 2024 13:43 IST

The prices for seat selection previously ranged from Rs 150 to Rs 1500

Amid public disgruntlement on steep airfare charges, Indigo airlines has caused a stir by deciding to charge, as much as Rs 2000, from passengers deciding to travel in the front row seats to enjoy extra legroom.

The window seat of the front row will cost passengers Rs 2000 while the middle seat will cost Rs 1500. Rs 400 has been fixed as charges for all seats in the second and third row.

The prices for seat selection previously ranged from Rs 150 to Rs 1500.

“In case you don’t wish to purchase a preferred seat you can always select any free seat available or would be assigned a seat free of charge at the time of check-in at the airport,” IndiGo declared on its website.

Indigo airlines is India’s largest airline in terms of passengers carried and fleet size. It carried 100 million passengers in 2023.
