Northeast Covid Alert: Cases spike in Assam, Mizoram and Manipur

Assam registered a slight increase in COVID cases with a total of 2,294 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. Of these, a total of 535 fresh cases were reported from the Kamrup Metropolitan district. This puts the total active caseload in Assam at 28,788. As a result, the COVID positivity rate is 6.41 percent.
Meanwhile, a total of 22 COVID-related deaths were reported in the state. On the other hand, a total of 5,497 COVID patients were discharged after attaining recovery. As a result, the recovery rate is 94.88 percent.
Mizoram continues to witness a spike in the number of daily COVID-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, the state reported a total of 1,819 cases, taking the active COVID tally in the state to 14,811 and the positivity rate to 26.38%.

Moreover, four COVID-19 related deaths were also registered during the same time period. On the other hand, 1,611 patients recovered from the illness on Friday.
Meanwhile, Manipur reported 425 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the state’s positivity rate now stands at 16.3% while the tally of active cases stands at 3,934. Besides, the state also reported 1 new COVID death, taking the death toll to 2,038 in Manipur. On the other hand, 294 patients recovered from the illness on Friday.
