In a bid to create a viable household income source while utilising bamboo, the Tripura Bamboo Mission has, for the first time, has introduced a single-phase bamboo round stick producing machine.

In a programme organised by the District Industries Centre in the state’s West District, these new machines were distributed among the beneficiaries in the presence of Tripura Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty.

As per reports, these machines have replaced the bulky three-phase machines, which are expensive and need to be installed inside a commercial unit.

However, unlike the three-phase machines, the installation of the new single-phase machines has provided a ray of hope for a large number of people, particularly women in rural areas, who have come forward to take advantage of the opportunity because they can set up their own units in their homes, cheaper than the machines they replace, and can be purchased with bank finance under the MUDRA loan.

Meanwhile, Tripura’s Industry Secretary, Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal, while speaking to Northeast Live, said that with the abundance of bamboo in the state, income generation will be higher and will ensure better employment opportunities.

Besides, the Managing Director of Tripura Bamboo Mission, TK Chakma, said that they are trying to promote industries in Tripura and they are trying to provide subsidies to the beneficiaries.

Notably, the concept for this project was proposed by entrepreneur Manish Agarwal of Raado Industries and accepted by Tripura’s Department of Industries and Commerce. Speaking to Northeast Live, the entrepreneur shared that the use of this new modified machine will significantly reduce transportation costs and ensure greater revenue generation.
