An apprehensive father makes a fervent appeal; threatens to march into China if the PLA doesn’t release his abducted son soon. Father of kidnapped Arunachal youth Miram Taron, has set a Republic Day deadline for his son’s return while speaking exclusively to Northeast Live in the remote Zido village of Arunachal. Northeast Live correspondent Ripunjoy Das travelled all the way to the border village as Northeast Live became the first channel to bring this exclusive ground report from near the Chinese border.
Interacting with Northeast Live, the father, anxious over his son’s condition and whereabouts threatened to take a drastic step.
Opong Taron, the father of 17-year-old Miram Taron threatened to march into the PLA camp in China to secure his son’s release.
17-year-old Miram Taron from Zido village in Arunachal’s Upper Siang district was taken into captivity by the Chinese PLA over a week ago as he along with a friend went hunting in the forest in Bishing area. While the matter was immediately taken up with China to secure the release of the youth, the family members continue to wait anxiously for his return.
Despite the assurance, the PLA is yet to release the youth, raising big concerns among family members and locals. An emotional father of Miram made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure his son comes back home safely by January 26th. The father also expressed concerns about his son’s well-being and whereabouts. Even though China claims that Miram had strayed into its territory, family members maintain that their son has been abducted from Indian soil.
While 17-year-old Miram Taron was taken into captivity by the Chinese, his friend Johnny Yaying managed to escape from the clutches of the PLA. Northeast Live also spoke to Johnny, the only eyewitness to the incident, to know what exactly transpired on the day of the incident and did the Chinese trespass into Indian territory? Well, Johny too claimed that PLA had abducted Miram from within Indian territory.
Local Zila Parishad Member Pema Lapchi, while expressing deep concern over the incident, also requested the Centre and Arunachal Pradesh government to make an all-out effort to secure the boy’s release.
China’s aggressive stand along the frontier is nothing new, but its indifferent stance is something that raises fresh concern among border residents of Arunachal.
