Dibang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh has been witnessing protests since January 17. Joint protests and blockades called by the All Idu Mishmi Students Union and the Dibang Valley Students Union have called for a shutdown in Anini with no sign of ending till now.
The communication and network in the Dibang Valley district have been affected for the past few days, with roads being blocked and tyres being burnt by irate protestors.

The demand for the protesting student unions is to speed up the disbursement of compensation to the families affected by the construction of the Dibang Multipurpose Project.
The long delay in the disbursement of the compensation is being highly resented by the protestors, and now they have declared that they will yield only if it is given to them in writing about the disbursement of compensation to the affected families.
