Lone Trinamool Congress MLA in the state, Tongbram Robindro joined the BJP today. Apart from Robindro, former Congress MLA Surchandra also joined the saffron party.

At the party office in Imphal, Robindro, who was the only TMC MLA in Manipur, was welcomed to the party by Union Minister Pratima Bhoumick and election co-in-charge of Manipur and Assam Minister of Urban Development and Irrigation, Ashok Singhal.

Meanwhile, Yengkhom Surchandra, who won the Kakching Assembly seat in 2017, was also welcomed to the party. Surchandra was later disqualified for the failure to disclose certain information in his 2017 election affidavit.
