Manipur’s Kuki National Assembly is mulling to field at least 7 to 8 candidates from various constituencies including Churachandpur in the ensuing State Assembly election scheduled on February 27 and March 3.
Exuding confidence, Kuki National Assembly president Dr. Jainson Haokip said that the party will field over 7 to 8 candidates and that it will manage to win around 5 seats.
He said the party will also extend support to some independent candidates as well in the upcoming assembly polls.

He said that he would contest from the Churachandpur Assembly constituency, while the party has decided to field Joshua Thiek Hmar from the Saikot constituency in Churachandpur.
The KNA president added that allotment of party tickets to other candidates deemed qualified will be based on an agreement for working in the interest of tribal people when elected.
Haokip added that if the party manages to win at least 5 to 6 seats it will form a coalition government with like-minded parties to work for the welfare of the tribal people.
The Kuki National Assembly was formed on October 24, 1946, and registered with the Election Commission in 1975.
