With the festival of Bhogali or Magh Bihu just four days away, preparations to celebrate the festival in its traditional fervour are in full swing in Assam.
To celebrate the spirit of the festival ‘Bhogali Mela 2022′ is being held at Guwahati’s Dighalipukhuri under the aegis of Pride East Entertainment Limited.
The Bhogali Mela celebrates the long-preserved tradition of cooking traditional delicacies such as pitha, laru, and handicrafts that are part of the Bhogali Bihu celebrations.
Pride East Entertainment Private Limited and Northeast Live’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Riniki Bhuyan Sharma visited the fair accompanied by Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Editor-in-Chief of Northeast Live, Wasbir Hussain and News Live’s Chief Managing Editor Syed Zarir Hussain.

Riniki Bhuyan Sharma and Atul Bora along with other dignitaries visited the stalls at the fair and looked at the traditional items on display.
And much to the delight of the audience, Minister Atul Bora turned into a performer as he broke into a traditional Bihu song and dance at the Bhogali Mela.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Magh Bihu festivities have begun in full swing in the state.
Womenfolk in the state are busy with the preparation of traditional delicacies like pitha-pona, larus and others.
People are also busy constructing traditional Bhelaghars made out of wood, bamboo and hay that would be ceremonially burnt on the day of the festival.
In Guwahati, Bhogali Bihu has become a commercial affair where entrepreneurs are producing the traditional Bihu delicacies on a large scale so that they can be delivered to people on the festive occasion while keeping in mind the Covid scenario around.
