Normal life has come to a standstill in the districts of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia after a 24-hour long shutdown called by the All Assam Students Union (AASU).

Places like Dibrugarh, Moran and Naharkatia have been particularly affected by the shutdown.

The bandh was called by the AASU over the violence that marred the recent elections at Dibru College.

Several AASU protestors burnt tyres and blocked roads at several places in protest at the National Highway No 37.
