Assam: Cabinet approves amendment bill to allow inter-district transportation of cattle

The Assam Cabinet has amended two of the important bills which will be placed in the upcoming winter session of the Assam Assembly.

These include the Assam Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021 and State-level Police Accountability Commission.

Speaking of the Cattle Preservation Bill, the cabinet is mulling to allow transportation of cattle from one district to another which was barred earlier. It is learnt that the Bill has been amended to allow transportation of cattle from one district to another, though it will not be allowed in districts having an international border.

Likewise, the cabinet has also taken several other decisions which include formation of a committee for the appointment of people in third and fourth category government employment, increasing the license tenure of fair price shops to three years, and allocation of Rs 5 crore for the construction of the Swahid Niyas in the memory of the martyrs of Assam Agitation, among others.
