The ‘Inspectors General BSF-Region Commanders BGB Level Border Co-Ordination Conference’ is being held at Umpling BSF Campus from 27 to 29 Nov’ 2021.

Speaking to the media-persons leader of the Bangladesh delegation Tanveer Gani Chowdhury said that such conference would go a long way in strengthening friendship and achieving common goals.

Leader of the Indian delegation Susanta Kumar Nath informed that the conference also discussed border and developmental issues which will help in maintaining peace and tranquility and highlighted issues like insurgency, smuggling of contrabands and other issues.

The conference is held bi-annually between the two border guarding forces to discuss the issues related to smuggling of cattle, drugs, FICN, contraband items and to resolve the matters having security bearing along the Indo-Bangladesh border to maintain peace and tranquillity.

The BGB delegation consisting of 10 members is headed by Tanveer Gani Chowdhury, Additional Director General, Region Commander of South East Region Chattogram.

From BSF, the Indian delegation is headed by Sh. Susanta Kumar Nath, IPS IG BSF Tripura Frontier along with 11 members from Meghalaya, Guwahati, Silchar and Tripura Frontier of BSF Representative of MHA, MEA and NCB and also attended the conference.

Both the border guarding forces agreed to look into each other’s perspective on border problems with an open mind and to increase sharing of actionable intelligence to curb trans-border crimes and to have a peaceful &* tranquil atmosphere along the international border. The next coordination conference will be held at Bangladesh.
