Samsung Awards Innovation Fellowship To IIT Guwahati Students

100 undergraduates and 30 engineering postgraduates students of IIT Guwahati and IIT Madras students have been awarded fellowships under the ‘Samsung Innovation Campus’. Around 130 Scholarships have been given so far to students of various engineering disciplines of both the IITs.
Samsung India’s fellowship program aims to encourage research, innovation and technology for social good.
According to a report in the Indian Express, the fellowship will support students in projects like traffic estimation and dynamic control of traffic lights, anti-cancer drug research, and intrusion detection system to power management for electric vehicles and liquid crystals in solar cells.
Final year projects which are typically undertaken by BTech, MTech or MS (Research) were elgible for the fellowship provided they wrere developing software or hardware products.
Samsung India will provide the awardees Rs 6000 per month for the undergraduates and Rs 25000 for the post-graduate students.
“Samsung R&D Institute India, Delhi has been working towards enhancing research and innovation among students at IITs, especially those from weaker sections of the society. We plan to expand this Fellowship to more IITs in the coming years,” the Indian Express report quoted Deokho Kim, Managing Director of Delhi-based Samsung Research & Development Institute.
The Samsung Innovation campus is the South Korea based company’s Global Citizenship Program to fill gaps in Skills for students on cutting edge technology and enhance their practical education technologies.
