27 Bangladesh nationals arrested from Tripura

West Tripura district police on Tuesday arrested 27 Bangladesh citizens who were living in Tripura’s capital Agartala without valid documents.
Border infiltration has become a major cause of concern in Tripura, with reports of theft, burglary, and dacoity, linked to Bangladesh nationals who make a dash for the borders.
These crimes perpetrated by foreign nationals have been increasing at an alarming rate in Agartala and its peripheries, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty for the locals.
Continuing the drive against the recent increase in burglary and dacoity cases, West Tripura district police on Tuesday arrested 27 Bangladesh citizens who were living in Tripura’s capital Agartala without valid documents.
Police arrested the foreign nationals in two separate raids, 11 were arrested in the evening while 16 were arrested earlier in the day. The Bangladesh nationals were arrested from the residence of a certain Rajib Mia in Rajnagar area under Battala outpost in Agartala.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been sent to judicial custody. Moreover, locals in the area have demanded an investigation and the arrest of the owner of the house from where the Bangladeshis were arrested.
Meanwhile, police are on high alert and in constant coordination with the Border Security Forces so that such incidents do not happen.
