Tripura has emerged as the first state in the entire country to inoculate 80 percent of its population.
Speaking to mediapersons, National Health Mission director Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal said that 100 percent health care workers were vaccinated with 1st dose in the state, while the second dose has been administered to 70 percent of the healthcare workers.
He further informed that Tripura has also topped in the vaccination of people above 45 age group.
The state has successfully administered COVID-19 vaccines to over 98 per cent of people above 45 years with the first dose and 47 per cent with the second dose.
The director said that a total 23,69,934 people have so far received the vaccination, among which 18,10,439 have received the first dose while the 2nd dose has been administered to 5,59,496 beneficiaries.
He mentioned that the state government has also taken many special vaccination drives across the state, where more than 1,300 centres were set up for vaccination.
Seven villages in Tripura have achieved 100 percent vaccination so far, he said.
The state has received 24.9 lakh vaccine doses. Currently, there are 2.10 lakh doses available in the state.
