Arunachal Pradesh steps up war on drugs, 25 cops arrested

The Arunachal Pradesh government is making a coordinated effort to tackle the menace of drug trade in all districts of the state.

Leading the coordinated effort, Arunachal DGP RP Upadhaya is in touch with SPs of all the districts as the state fights a decisive battle against drug menace.

With Arunachal Home Minister Bamang Felix informing on Tuesday that as many as 25 cops have also been arrested in the crackdown, the state police force has been directed to be extra vigilant in its war against drugs.

It may be mentioned that after Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s strict directive calling for a massive crackdown on illegal trade and smuggling of contraband items, the state police have so far arrested 143 persons and registered close to 100 cases in just over a month.

The West Kameng Police is also on high alert.

Northeast Live’s Bomdila correspondent spoke to SP Bharat Reddy on the efforts undertaken to curb the drug menace. Reddy informed that checking has been intensified at all entry points.
