COVID-19: Meghalaya extends lockdown in East Khasi Hills for 7 days

The Meghalaya government has decided to extend lockdown in Shillong and entire East Khasi Hills district for another week with effect from June 7 till 5 am of June 14.

The Meghalaya government has decided to extend lockdown in Shillong and entire East Khasi Hills district for another week with effect from June 7 till 5 am of June 14.

The decision was taken during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.

Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong and health minister AL Hek also attended the meet.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma appealed to people to hold on for another week in view of the extension of the restrictions. Sangma said that flattening of the curve does not mean that the state is out of danger.

Earlier the government had decided to extend lockdown in the East Khasi Hills district from May 31 to June 7.

Fresh directives have also been issued to respective deputy commissioners to impose restriction or go for relaxation depending on the local situation.

It may be mentioned, that cases are also increasing in other districts as well where weekend lockdown has been in place.
