The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday sent Punjab-based YouTuber Paras Singh to 6 days judicial custody to investigate the matter of racial remarks made against senior Congress MLA Ninong Ering and the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

SIT Rohit Rajbir Singh said, “Accused Paras remanded 6 days of Judicial Custody, and shall be lodged in the Jully jail for this period.”

Paras Singh, hailing from Ludhiana in Punjab, was brought to Arunachal Pradesh capital – Itanagar, by a team of the State Police’s Special Investigation Cell, after a local court in Ludhiana granted them a transit remand.

The team of Arunachal Pradesh Police team, transporting Paras Singh, reached Itanagar late Thursday evening.

Arunachal Pradesh police after interrogating Paras Singh informed: “…he made this controversial video on which the case has been registered, to gain widespread attention and views, so that his monetary income could be maximized. His motive was that he became enraged after reading HMLA’s letter about PUBG, as banning PUBG would have meant sure shot loss in income.”

“Most of his videos are aimed at generating quick money,” said SP of Special Investigating Team – Rohit Rajbir Singh.

“On an average accused Paras earns around Rs 20,000 to 25,000/- per month from his videos,” SP of Special Investigating Team – Rohit Rajbir Singh said.

In his YouTube video, Paras Singh had questioned Ninong Ering’s nationality saying that the Arunachal Pradesh MLA “doesn’t look like an Indian”.

Paras Singh also said: “His (Ninong Ering) name does not seem like an Indian name.”

The YouTuber also questioned Arunachal Pradesh’s affiliation towards India.

He said: “Arunachal Pradesh is surrounded by China so people here are to large extent Chinese.”
