Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to kin of those who lost their lives in the Digboi grenade explosion incident.
Two persons – Surajit Talukdar and Sanjiv Singh lost their lives in the grenade attack on Friday.
CM Sarma met the family members of the victims who were killed in the blast and said that a sum of Rs 5 lakh each would be provided to next of kin of deceased as one time financial assistance.
“Today visited & met family members of late Surajit Talukdar who was killed in a dastardly grenade blast at Tingrai market in Digboi on Friday. Announced Rs 5 lakh one time financial assistant to next of kin of victims Talukdar and Sanjiv Singh. Asked for best treatment to injured,” Sarma tweeted.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also visited the site of the grenade explosion at Tingrai market of Digboi in Tinsukia district to inspect the situation.
Sarma further instructed the Assam Police to expedite their investigation and arrest the culprits.
