A night curfew was imposed in Arunachal Pradesh by the Pema Khandu-led government from Saturday for the entire month to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the northeastern state.

The night curfew will remain in effect from 6:30 pm to 5 am till May 31.

Total ban has been imposed on the movement of individuals during the curfew timings, except for those in emergency services. Inner line permits (ILPs) will also remain suspended till the end of this month.

All shops and commercial establishments have been ordered to close by 4 pm on all days while bus services will be allowed to operate with 50 percent seating capacity.

Meanwhile, the Itanagar Capital Region will go for a week-long lockdown from May 10. The decision was taken by the district administration due to the rapid rise of Covid cases.

Arunachal Pradesh recorded 169 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the active cases tally in the state to 1,893.

The recovery rate stands at 90.14 percent while 60 deaths have been reported so far.
