Three employees of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) were abducted by unknown armed miscreants from a rig site in Assam, the company informed on Wednesday.
The employees were abducted in a company vehicle from the Lakwa field of Sivasagar district in Assam.
As per the ONGC, the abducted employees include two Junior Engineer Assistants (Production) and a Junior Technician (Production). They have been identified as Mohini Mohan Gogoi (Junior Technician) hailing from Demow, Ritul Saikia (Junior Technician) from Golaghat and Alakesh Saikia (Junior Engineer) from Jorhat district in Assam.
“The abducted employees were taken by the miscreants in an operational vehicle belonging to ONGC. Later, the vehicle was found abandoned near the Nimonagarh jungles close to the Assam-Nagaland border,” the ONGC tweeted.
A complaint has been lodged with the local police.
Higher officials of the State Police are on the site and local administration has been informed about the incident.
“ONGC is in constant touch with the higher authorities,” it added.
It may be mentioned that this is the second major case of kidnapping after the abduction of 2 Quippo Oil Company employees by the ULFA-Independent.
